NOBODY wants to buy these racetracks they BLEED MONEY. Even if you do a good job managing YOUR TRACK the other track management is hell bent on destroying horse racing's social license and truly already has - so it is a loosing proposition - even under the best management, because you NEED good management in the Triple Crown racetracks which are Stronach (Russian) and Blackrock/Vanguard owned and that will never be on the table in this lifetime.
They should just have the state of Arizona buy it and bleed $3 million dollars PER YEAR from the TAX PAYERS to give the track owners like - Maryland is doing, nobody asks WTF -broke Batlimore residents- why they are being forced to give over their hard earned tax money to the Stronach Billionaires - for a brokedown racetrack they don't even want? Seems like money laundering at it's finest. Of course the people in Arizona might be more vocal than those in Maryland who just had their whole ass handed to them financially.
Meanwhile ALSO in Baltimore
Imagine if Baltimore tax payers spent the $400 MILLION OF THEIR OWN TAX DOLLARS on Law Enforcement - instead of horse racing.
Imagine if the $3 million they plan to give the Stronachs/Russians EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR for a dilipated racetrack - would have been given to cops who do extraordinary work as bonuses and to those who are out there working over time day in and day out to keep the streets safe as Christmas bonuses.
I doubt this comment sees the light of day with these kosher moderators at Star Tribune.
